This is one of the reasons I keep stopping at the reservoir. I got great shots of this Red Tail Hawk on two separate days. It was almost as if he were waiting to pose for me. Click on the thumbnails for a larger view.

Redtail in flight

My first "in flight" picture. Not great but I kept it.

Redtail in flight

This one is just a random hawk I caught while driving home.

He knows I'm there but doesn't seem to care.

Redtail watching me

Sitting on a branch not more than 10 feet away from me.

Redtail scanning for prey

Redtail ruffling his feathers

I thought he was getting ready to leave but he was just loosening up.

Coopers hawk butting in

This Coopers Hawk decided to move in on the staked out territory.

My "model" didn't take kindly to the intrusion.

Redtail eying the Coopers Hawk

He kept a close eye on the interloper.

Watchful Redtail

Redtail Hawk

On a different day this guy sat in a tree only 5 feet from me.

Redtail Hawk

I think this is the best shot of the bunch.

He thought he had a snack snared.

Redtail after its prey

Still after the prey here.

Redtail patiently waiting

Continuing the vigil but with no luck.

Redtail taking off

After 20 minutes or so it's time to be moving on.
